Students gain IGCSE honours.
The first students in Kerala to have written the IGCSE examination set by Cambridge International Examinations are celebrating receiving their results. The Class 10 batch wrote the exams in October and November and received their results in January. IGCCSE exams are graded from A* to G. An A grade represents a complete mastery of the course of study and the A* is awarded for exceptional performance in the exam. In this first batch, 18 A and A* grades were achieved. All the exam papers are sent to the United Kingdom for marking. Cambridge International Examinations is a part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, itself a department of Cambridge University. “I am delighted that our pioneers have achieved so well,” said Mr Hillebrand, TIS Principal. “Not only have they got the grades needed to move on to the ISC Plus 2 courses this June without delay, they have also managed to achieve a high number of top grades despite taking the exams six months early. This will encourage both them and their classmates as they prepare for the main examination session in May.” He added, “Our next examination batch is the Class 10 ICSE students who I know will match their friends’ achievements. The teachers have worked very hard to ensure our students are ready for the examination challenges they face. Congratulations are deserved all round.” CIE has two examination sessions, October/November and May. At Trivandrum International School, all students sit exams in May at the end of Class 10, but some take exams in October/November to allow a smooth transition to the Plus Two course in June. Students at TIS have the choice of following the ISC Plus Two or the CIE A-level course.
